And though I have sung the above song countless times over the years… I truly don’t want to come to the end of my life and find that I, like the foolish man, had built my life on unstable sand.
Another familiar Gospel song reminds us as well… "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sifting sand…”
This Easter season we continue to worship and celebrate He who is that solid rock… for it is the same Jesus who bids us to come and build our lives upon Him.
The scriptures remind us that not only are our lives to be built on solid rock, but in a very real sense, we too be-come “mini-rocks” or stones. 1 Peter 2 states: "You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiri-tual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ…”
I love that as we build our lives on THE ROCK, that we in turn become living stones… and that God is using each of us to build a great spiritual house.
God truly has chosen us to be a holy priesthood! We do count… we do matter as God uses us to reach into our workplaces and communities to be the light of Christ to others.
May that same resurrection power that raised our Lord from the grave, so fill and empower us this Easter season… as we continue to be those living stones being built up as a spiritual house!
